Joining an Online League
If you're looking for an online league, the best place to start is the FHM 5 - Online Leagues board on our forums, where leagues may advertise openings and newly-started leagues can get organized.
Before you join an online league, your commissioner will need to provide you with three things:
- A link to download the intial league file
- An accountsdata_gms.dat file
- Your temporary password
Once you have these, you can then set things up on your end and join the league with the following steps:
- Download and unzip the initial league file from the link provided to you. It goes in your saved_games folder; once you've unzipped it there you should see the folder with the league name (ending in .lg) inside the saved_games folder.
- Start the game and open the league using the Load Game button.
- From the Manager menu, choose "Select Active Human Manager." (You will be asked for your password, use the one the commissioner sent you.)
- From the File menu, select Online League and then Online League FTP Settings
- Click on "Import Account Data File" and select the accountsdata_gms.dat file your Commish sent you (navigate to wherever you saved it; it does not matter where on your computer the file is stored.)
- Click on "Check Account Data File" to verify that you've selected the correct file. If the check is failed, notify your commissioner so he can send you the correct file.
At this point, you've joined the league and are now ready to prepare your team file.
