Exceptional Junior Players
In standard games, every year players who want to play in the CHL leagues (WHL, OHL, and QMJHL) will be checked for very high talent and potential. If they meet the required threshold, they may get "Exceptional" status.
There will be a news annnouncement when Exceptional status is granted.
Players with Exceptional status (marked by an (E) after the player's name on roster screens) are treated as if they are one year older, allowing them to join the league a year before they would normally be able.
On July 1, the Exceptional status will be removed from any players who have it and whose age will be 16 or more at the end of the current calendar year.
