Playing OOTP Overview
When you load up a game of OOTP, time is stopped. You can adjust your lineups and league settings to your heart's content, but until you tell OOTP to move time forward in some fashion, no games will get played! In OOTP, time advances in one of three ways:
- Using OOTP's Auto-Play to simulate games and advance time
- Using OOTP's Real-Time Simulation Mode to cause time to advance in a real-time fashion
- Manually playing out individual games in Play-by-Play Mode
All of these are done through the Play Menu. How you play OOTP is up to you! Some players choose to use auto-play exclusively, relying on OOTP to simulate the results of games, even the games of the teams that they manage. Other people prefer to play out their own games in Play-by-Play Mode.
This section of the manual also describes two reports that are inextricably linked to playing OOTP: box scores and game logs.
