The Check for Updates option (Game Menu >> OOTP section >> Check for Updates) contacts OOTP's servers to determine if an update/patch is available for the game. If an update is found, you will be directed to a web site where you can download and install the latest version. The update will not be applied automatically.

Note: You must have an internet connection in order to check for updates.
