Filters
The Filter drop-down typically appears to the right of the View drop-down on screens that have lists of players, like the Roster screen.
Where a view answers the question "What pieces of data would you like to view?" A filter instead answers the question, "Whose data would you like to view?" By default, FHM displays data for all relevant people for the current screen. For example, the draft screen displays all players in the draft. A team roster displays all of the players on that team. Filters are used to narrow down the list of players whose data you are viewing.
In FHM9, you have the following filter options:
Filter | Usage |
Age | Shows all players that fit into the specified age range (as of the current day in the game.) |
Abilty/Potential | Shows all players that fit into the specified ranges of ability (the player's current skill level) and potential (the ability the player may be able to reach in the future). These are the star ratings shown on the roster screen and elsewhere; the maximum number of stars shown in the game is 5, but the actual numerical rating can extend much higher than that when looking, for example, at an NHL star in the context of a low-level league. |
Position | Shows only the players whose primary position (the one listed first on their player screen) is checked on this list. |
Signable | If checked, shows only players who you can sign to a contract, e.g. players who are younger than your league's minimum age are excluded. |
Nationality | Shows only players who have the selected nationality (players may have up to three nationalities, so they may have other ones as well.) |
Realistic Signing Targets | Shows only players who are very likely to be willing to sign with your team. |
Transfer-Eligible | If your league allows you to sell/buy players for cash, this shows the players you can buy via this method (via making an offer to their team). |
Contracted but Signable | This shows players who currently have a contract with another team, but whom you can sign immediately, voiding their current contract. |
Restricted FA's | Shows only free agents who qualify as RFA's according to league rules. Usually, signing these players requires providing compensation to their former team. |
Unrestricted FA's | Shows only free agents who qualify as UFA's according to league rules. These players can be signed freely without having to compensate their former team. |
League | Shows only players currently on a team in the selected league. |
Only Rookies | Shows only players who qualify as a rookie in the selected league (the league must be selected for this option to be selectable, as the definition of "rookie" varies by league.) |
Retired Players | This dropdown allows you to display only active players, only retired players, or both. |
Other Options | These options allow you to select players who have a scouting level or success chance at or above a specific level; players with a specific special ability; players with specific Major or Supplementary roles; players at or above specific popularity levels, and choose players of specific height, weight, and shooting/catching hand. |
Minimum Ratings (right side) | In this section of the filter, you can specificy one or more minimum ratings you want to filter for. |
