Player Popularity
Players in OOTP have two popularity ratings: national and local. Popularity can be seen on the Player Profile, or in player lists using the Popularity Info view.
Popularity is largely based on player performance, although it can also be influenced by things like player personality, news articles about players, contract signings, and overall ratings. Player popularity is an important consideration for general managers, since letting a popular player go can have a profound impact on fan interest, which can affect revenue. The fans will let you know, too, when they're unhappy with your moves:
