Special Abilities

Special Abilities add specific traits to individual players that are outside the scope of the normal ratings system, letting them do unusual things that regular players can't and making the players who possess them more unique and colourful:

Behind the Net: This player is exceptionally effective when behind the opposing net, making him difficult to hit or force into a turnover, and his outgoing passes more accurate while in that position.

Big Hitter: This player's hits will almost always knock their target off his feet.

Blind in Left Eye: This player has no (or very limited) vision in his left eye, making it harder to receive passes from that side and making him more susceptible to being hit.

Blind in Right Eye: This player has no (or very limited) vision in his right eye, making it harder to receive passes from that side and making him more susceptible to being hit.

Charismatic: This player is exceptionally charismatic, making him a candidate for captaincies even when his leadership skills wouldn't normally be up to it.

Elusive: This player is unusually difficult to hit, and even more difficult to hit solidly.

Erratic: When this player has an off-night, it'll usually be a very bad one.

Faceoff Cheater: This player always looks for an extra edge on faceoffs, usually succeeding but also getting thrown out of the faceoff more often.

Goalie Shooter: This goalie is much more likely to try to score on an opponent's empty net.

Great Deke: This player is particularly effective when attempting to deke the goalie in breakaway and shootout situations.

Hatchet Man: This goalie's ruthlessness with his stick is very effective in preventing opponents from getting in position for a tipped shot.

Homebody: This player doesn't like to change teams; he'll always be very easy for his current team to re-sign.

Infuriating: This player is very irritating to opponents, making them more likely to take retaliation penalties and get misconducts during altercations with him.

Intimidator: This player's fearsome presence makes opponents a little less likely to take a run at his teammates, and much less likely to try hitting him.

Iron Man: This player is nearly immune to suffering a major injury.

Knockout Power: This player can end fights with a single punch, leading to him winning fights he might otherwise lose.

Malcontent: This player can never be truly happy; his happiness won't rise above a certain level.

Plays Through Pain: This player shrugs off minor injuries, continuing to play with only minimal penalties to his abilities.

Rebounder: This player is exceptionally good at getting control of rebounds surrendered by the opposing goalie.

Resilient: This player is a quick healer and very difficult to keep out of the lineup; any serious injuries he suffers will have durations at the lower end of their possible range.

Sharp Elbows: Hitting this player can be a very unpleasant experience due to his tendency to throw an elbow, making opponents less likely to hit him.

Skilled Fighter: "This player is an exceptional fighter, making him much more likely to win a fight.

Soft Passer: On-target passes from this player are much easier than normal for a teammate to receive, leading to fewer bobbled passes.

Suitcase: This player finds himself getting traded very often; his current team always seems to underestimate his valuel.

Unmovable Object: Even when this player get hit, the effects are minimal - he might lose the puck, but he can't be knocked off his feet.

Wild Card: This player's development is unusually hard to predict; it'll slow down and speed up at unpredictable times.
