Manager Options

The Manager Options page is divided into four panes of information:

Profile

The Profile section contains basic demographic information for your human general manager, plus a few options:

OptionDescription
First Name The general manager's first name
Last Name The general manager's last name
Nickname The general manager's nickname
Date of Birth The manager's date of birth. Note: Your general manager's age does not matter in-game. Human general managers cannot die of old age in FHM4.
Nationality The general manager's nationality. This may affect the willingness of some teams to hire him.
Current Team The manager's current team, if any.
Break Mode If the Do Not Disturb check box is selected, when the Autoplay option is used, the player will never be interrupted by news or a message. When selecting this, be aware that you may miss important messages, and if you autoplay past the end of the season, the game will skip past your opportunity to improve your managerial ratings.
Play Mode If the Commissioner Mode check box is selected, the user will be able to edit much of the game's data.

News Subscription Settings

News Subscription Settings allow you to customize what types of news articles you would like to receive in your News and Mail page. News from specific leagues or tournaments can be added or deleted, and clicking the edit box will allow you to determine which news types you wish to receive: General News, Transactions, Contracts, Game Performances, Accomplishments, Awards, Minor Awards, and Injuries.

Team Control Settings

FHM4 allows you great flexibility in managing your team or organization. The Team Control Settings section allows you to specify which aspects of your team or organization you wish to control.

OptionDescription
Scouting Defines who sets assignments for your scouts. You can choose to manage these aspects of the team yourself, or delegate them to your assistant. Your assistant may not be the best manager of your scouts' time, however.
Setting Training Defines who sets training assignments for your players. You can choose to manage these aspects of the team yourself, or delegate them to your assistant.
Setting Lineups Defines who is responsible for setting lineups and lines for your team. You can choose to manage these aspects of the team yourself, or delegate them to your assistant.
Setting Tactics Defines who is responsible for setting tactics for your team. You can choose to manage this aspect of the game yourself, or delegate them to your assistant.
Roster Moves Defines who is responsible for making roster moves (promotions, demotions, and so forth) for your team. You can choose to manage these aspects of the team yourself, or delegate them to your assistant.
Transactions Defines who is responsible for making transactions for your team. Transactions include signing and releasing players. You can choose to manage these aspects of the team yourself, or delegate them to your assistant.
Initiate and React to Trades Defines who is responsible for initiating and reacting to trades. You can choose to manage these aspects of the team yourself, or delegate them to your assistant.
Draft Players Defines who is responsible for running your team's drafts. You can choose to manage draft players yourself, or let your assistant handle it.
Show Games Determines whether or not to stop the game when your team has a game to play, allowing you to play it yourself.
Control Farm Teams This option sets the emphasis your farm teams will use when deciding on their game lineups - "Use Best Prospects" will give more icetime to your top prospects, "Use Best Players" will give preference to the team's best players, even if they're older and have limited upsides, while "Balanced" will take an approach somewhere in the middle.
Exit Auto-Play

The Exit Auto-Play settings will allow you to control exactly which events will interrupt you when continuing from day to day while Autoplaying.
