Engine Config File
The engine config file is used to set variables that affect the game engine. We believe that the game is already configured to return the best statistical output. Be careful when editing this file as it could significantly alter the output of the game engine. We recommend you sim a few seasons with a test league and examine the results before using these settings on your saved games.

Note: You should only modify configuration files when OOTP is closed. Always back up configuration files before modifying!

The engine config file is a simple text file with pairs of settings and values, one on each line, like this:

To edit the file, simply change the value in the value line, then save the file. Do not create new settings or change the formatting within the file, or it could cause OOTP not to work! The values in the engine config files are all numbers, set to 100 by default. These generally indicate percentage frequencies. If you want to increase something by 20%, set it to 120. If you want to decrease it by 20%, set it to 80.

The engine config file has the following settings:

GAME_GROUNDBALL_FLYBALL_FACTORSets the Groundball vs Flyball frequency. Higher = more fly balls and fewer ground balls
GAME_DEFENSE_INFLUENCESets how much the players' defensive ratings affect the outcome of the plays. Higher = defensive ratings have greater influence
GAME_FIELDING_ERROR_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of fielding errors. Higher = more fielding errors
GAME_THROWING_ERROR_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of throwing errors. Higher = more throwing errors
GAME_DOUBLE_PLAY_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of defensive double plays from ground balls. Higher = more double plays
GAME_TRIPLE_PLAY_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of defensive triple plays. Higher = more triple plays
GAME_LINE_DOUBLE_PLAY_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of line-drive double plays. Higher = more double plays
GAME_TAGUP_FIRST_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of offensive players tagging up at first and attempting to reach second. Higher = more players tag up
GAME_TAGUP_FIRST_SUCCESSSets the frequency of players successfully reaching second after tagging up at first. Higher = more success
GAME_TAGUP_SECOND_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of offensive players tagging up at second and attempting to reach third. Higher = more players tag up
GAME_TAGUP_SECOND_SUCCESSSets the frequency of players successfully reaching third after tagging up at second. Higher = more success
GAME_TAGUP_THIRD_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of offensive players tagging up at third and attempting to reach home. Higher = more players tag up
GAME_TAGUP_THIRD_SUCCESSSets the frequency of players successfully scoring after tagging up at third. Higher = more successful scores
GAME_EXTRA_BASE_FROM_SECOND_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of players attempting advance from second to third on a play. Higher = more attempted advances
GAME_EXTRA_BASE_FROM_SECOND_SUCCESSSets the frequency of players successfully reaching third after advancing from second. Higher = more success
GAME_EXTRA_BASE_FROM_THIRD_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of players attempting advance from third to home on a play. Higher = more attempted advances
GAME_EXTRA_BASE_FROM_THIRD_SUCCESSSets the frequency of players successfully scoring after advancing from third. Higher = more success
GAME_STEALING_SUCCESSSets the frequency of successful steals. Higher = more successful steals
GAME_BUNTING_SUCCESSSets the frequency of successful bunts. Higher = more successful bunts
GAME_BUNT_FOR_HIT_SUCCESSSets the frequency of successful bunts for hits. Higher = more successful bunts for hits
GAME_HIT_RUN_SUCCESSSets the frequency of successful hit-and-run plays. Higher = more successful hit-and-run plays
GAME_WILD_PITCH_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of wild pitches. Higher = more wild pitches
GAME_PASSED_BALL_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of passed balls. Higher = more passed balls
GAME_BALK_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of balks. Higher = more balks
GAME_PICKOFF_FREQUENCYSets the frequency of pickoff attempts. Higher = more pickoff attempts
GAME_PICKOFF_SUCCESSSets the frequency of successful pickoff attempts. Higher = more successful pickoff attempts
